About the Pit Master
Steve recently retired from the Omaha Police Department after 20 years of service and is an Army veteran. Steve has deep roots in NW Missouri having grown up in Maryville. His connection to the area initially brought he and his wife Sue to Big Lake as a retreat for rest & relaxation. After almost ten years as "part-timers" Steve retired and they became “full-time” residents of Big Lake.
Steve Hogle
When Steve wasn’t working, you could usually find him at the lake smoking meats and cooking for friends, family, and Big Lake guests. After many nights around the firepit contemplating what comes next Steve decided to follow his dream and opened Exit 92 BBQ.
The name Exit 92 BBQ has significant meaning. It is named after the exit taken when leaving I-29 for Big Lake. Sue and Steve used this exit when driving from Omaha to their cabin at Big Lake on their days off. The Exit 92 sign always brought similes to their faces knowing they were almost to their happy place.
Steve thought this could be the perfect name! Exit 92 always made him smile and he loves to make people smile with his BBQ. His happy place helping him make people happy. Steve was right, it is the perfect name.
Much like the name the Exit 92 BBQ logo was created to represent more than a bbq joint. You will notice a blue line running across the logo. The Thin Blue Line represents the men and women of law enforcement who stand in the gap between the lawless and the innocent.
